TypeIt is a dictation app for Mac. Everything it does happens on your own computer. We do not run servers that see your voice or your text, we do not have accounts, and we do not track you.
What TypeIt does with your voice
When you hold the key and speak, your audio is captured and turned into text entirely on your Mac, using models that run locally on your machine. The clean-up that tidies your words also runs locally. Your voice and your dictated text are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored by us. In fact, TypeIt works with the internet switched off.
What we collect
Nothing. TypeIt does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, usage analytics, or telemetry. There is no sign-up and no account.
Your dictation history and dictionary
Your recent dictations and any words you add to your custom dictionary are saved only on your own Mac, so the app can show your history and spell your terms correctly. You can clear them at any time in TypeIt's settings. They never leave your device.
Optional cloud clean-up
TypeIt includes an optional advanced setting for power users to route the clean-up step through their own AI provider using their own API key. This is off by default. If you choose to turn it on, the transcript text (never the audio) is sent to that provider under your own account and their privacy terms; TypeIt still stores nothing. Most people never touch this, and the app is fully functional and private without it.
Purchases
If you buy TypeIt from this website, the payment is handled by our payment provider, which processes your name and email to complete the sale and send your licence key. If you buy through the Mac App Store, Apple handles the transaction and we never see your payment details. We use your email only to deliver your purchase and support you.
Children
TypeIt is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated date above will change with it.
